Residents across Sharjah continue to express a strong sense of personal and public safety, according to the Survey on the Perception of Safety of Lives and Property in the Emirate of Sharjah 2025, released by the Sharjah Civil Defence Authority in collaboration with the Department of Statistics and Community Development.
The findings highlight high public confidence in fire prevention measures, emergency response systems and the overall safety infrastructure across the emirate.
Strong Sense of Safety at Home and in Public
According to the survey results, 97.9% of participants said they feel safe from fire incidents inside their homes, while 98.8% reported feeling safe in public places such as malls, streets and community spaces. Officials attributed these figures to effective preventive policies, increased public awareness and the operational readiness of emergency response teams.
The presence and accessibility of fire stations also played a key role. Around 98.3% of respondents said they trust fire stations located near their residential areas, underlining the importance of strategic distribution and rapid response capability.
Fire Incidents Perceived as Under Control
The survey further revealed that 94.32% of participants believe fire incident rates in Sharjah have not increased compared to previous years. Authorities linked this perception to sustained preventive initiatives, safety education campaigns and improved coordination among emergency services.
Broad and Representative Survey Sample
The study was conducted with 5,085 participants from across the emirate to ensure broad representation. Of these respondents, 67.5% were from Sharjah City, 21.3% from the Eastern Region, and 11.2% from the Central Region. On-site questionnaires were carried out at shopping centres and public locations to capture diverse community perspectives.
Officials Highlight Community Partnership
Brigadier Yousef Obaid Harmoul Al Shamsi, Director-General of the Sharjah Civil Defense Authority, said the results reflect a strong partnership between Civil Defence and the community. He noted that the high perception of safety is the outcome of long-term preventive planning, enhanced preparedness and close coordination among relevant government entities.
He added that the survey will serve as a strategic tool for shaping future development plans, strengthening preventive systems and promoting a culture of safety as a daily practice across institutions and households.
Why These Findings Matter
Experts say such indicators reinforce Sharjah’s reputation as a stable and secure emirate, which is critical not only for residents but also for investors, professionals and entrepreneurs considering long-term commitments in the UAE. A strong safety environment directly supports confidence in business setup in dubai and neighbouring emirates, where security and emergency readiness remain key decision factors.
The findings reaffirm Sharjah’s commitment to an integrated safety system built on prevention, preparedness and community engagement-underscoring that protecting lives and property is a shared responsibility.
