Uttar Pradesh Police has launched Operation Cy Vajra, a seven-day statewide cybercrime enforcement campaign aimed at intensifying action against cybercriminals, strengthening cyber policing and improving support for victims of online financial fraud.

The campaign follows a statewide cybercrime review where police reported freezing ₹530 crore linked to cyber fraud cases and blocking thousands of suspicious mobile numbers and devices used in digital offences.

Statewide Cybercrime Drive Begins

Operation Cy Vajra has been launched across all police commissionerates, districts, cyber police stations and cyber cells in Uttar Pradesh.

The objective is to improve coordinated enforcement, speed up cybercrime investigations and strengthen the state’s response to online financial fraud.

Senior officers from Cyber Crime Headquarters, commissionerates and district units participated in the review before the campaign was rolled out.

₹530 Crore Frozen in Cyber Fraud Cases

Police said that between April 1, 2025 and June 30, 2026, authorities blocked:

  • 2,94,024 suspicious mobile numbers
  • 1,81,405 mobile devices
  • ₹530 crore placed under lien or hold in cyber financial fraud cases

This helped prevent suspected fraudsters from withdrawing or moving the money further.

Victim Assistance Through I4C Modules

The review also focused on two systems developed by the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre:

Money Restoration Module: Helps victims seek return of funds placed on hold after police verification.

Grievance Redressal Module: Helps innocent bank account holders seek relief if their accounts were frozen during cyber fraud investigations.

Technology and Public Awareness in Focus

Police units have been directed to strengthen technology-driven investigations, expand cyber intelligence and improve coordination against organised cybercrime networks.

The campaign will also focus on regular training for cyber police personnel, public awareness campaigns and faster disposal of cybercrime complaints.

Cases involving women and children will receive priority attention.

Why It Matters

Operation Cy Vajra reflects a stronger enforcement approach against rising cyber-enabled financial crime. For businesses, strong internal controls, fraud monitoring and auditing services in india can help detect suspicious transactions, improve compliance and reduce cyber fraud exposure.

Shunyatax Global Insight

Shunyatax Global says that cybercrime prevention needs quick reporting, strong policing, public awareness and financial discipline. Independent auditing services in india can help organisations strengthen controls, detect fraud patterns and improve digital risk management.
