The UAE has sent urgent humanitarian assistance to the Philippines after a powerful 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck the southern coast of the country, leaving at least 35 people dead and more than 200 injured.
The relief response is being carried out through the UAE Aid Agency, following the earthquake that hit areas near the Mindanao region and caused widespread damage, landslides and urgent humanitarian needs.
UAE Aid Agency Steps In After Disaster
Dr. Tareq Ahmed Al Ameri, Chairman of the UAE Aid Agency, said the emergency response reflects the UAE’s international responsibility toward communities affected by natural disasters and crises.
He stated that the UAE aims to ease the suffering of earthquake-affected people and support early recovery and stability in coordination with international organisations and relevant local authorities.
The response comes at a critical time as affected communities continue to deal with casualties, damaged infrastructure and disrupted access to essential supplies.
Relief Based on Needs Assessment
According to Dr. Al Ameri, the UAE’s relief assistance was planned after a comprehensive needs assessment conducted by the UAE Aid Agency in coordination with relevant authorities in the Philippines.
The assessment was aimed at identifying urgent priorities and core needs of people affected by the earthquake.
The UAE Aid Agency said the focus is on delivering essential life requirements as quickly as possible, especially under exceptional circumstances where immediate support can help stabilise affected communities.
UAE Expresses Solidarity With the Philippines
The UAE, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressed solidarity with the Republic of the Philippines following the earthquake in the southern Mindanao region.
The UAE also extended sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathies to the families of the victims, as well as to the government and people of the Philippines.
It further wished a speedy recovery to all those injured in the disaster.
Humanitarian Diplomacy Remains a UAE Priority
The UAE has regularly positioned humanitarian assistance as a key part of its global role, especially during natural disasters, conflicts and emergency situations.
This latest relief effort underlines the country’s commitment to supporting affected populations beyond its borders and working with international and local partners to deliver aid efficiently.
For the Philippines, the assistance comes as quake-hit areas face immediate needs related to food, shelter, medical care, transport access and early recovery.
Why Global Stability Matters for Communities and Business
Humanitarian crises also remind the world that stability, infrastructure and international cooperation are essential for societies and economies.
For businesses, investors and entrepreneurs, the UAE’s active global engagement strengthens its image as a responsible international hub. Those exploring business setup in dubai often consider not only the country’s economic policies but also its global connectivity, diplomatic reach and strong institutional framework.
