A local court in Rajendranagar, Hyderabad, has sent 33-year-old trainee IPS officer M. Uday Krishna Reddy to 14 days of judicial custody after serious allegations were levelled against him by a fellow woman probationer at the police academy. The XXV Additional Judicial Magistrate of First Class in Ranga Reddy district passed the remand order, and Reddy has since been moved to Chanchalguda Central Jail. The case was originally filed at Attapur Police Station on July 18, 2026, based on a complaint describing incidents that allegedly occurred at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) in Shivarampally.
Charges Escalate as Medical Evidence Comes In
What began as a case involving criminal intimidation, stalking, and outraging a woman's modesty has since escalated considerably. Police have now added non-bailable sections under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) — Section 64(1) for rape and Section 109 for attempted murder. Officials say the complainant's medical examination has provided supporting evidence, with examiners reportedly documenting strangulation marks on her neck and abrasions on her shin.
In her complaint, the 30-year-old officer described a pattern of harassment that started in late June. She alleged that on July 9, Reddy forcibly confined her, coerced her into his quarters, held a knife to her throat, and attempted to strangle her during a physical assault. She further claimed he secretly recorded private content without her consent and sent it to her husband in what she described as an attempt to blackmail and humiliate her.
A Relationship That Turned Volatile
According to Rajendranagar DCP S. Srinivas, Reddy had earlier worked as a police constable in Andhra Pradesh before quitting to prepare for the UPSC exam. He and the complainant first connected on Instagram in mid-2025, after she responded to a post about his UPSC success story. What followed was a personal relationship that police describe as increasingly marked by possessiveness and emotional manipulation during their time training together at the academy.
Things reportedly took a darker turn after the woman ended the relationship and got married in May. Investigators say Reddy responded by escalating his harassment — creating fake social media accounts to keep tracking her after being blocked, threatening to leak private conversations, and reaching out to her family and colleagues without her consent. Technical analysis has also reportedly uncovered similar coercive behaviour by Reddy toward other women on different platforms.
Arrest, Court Proceedings, and Academy Action
Reddy was tracked down and arrested near Aramgarh crossroads before being taken to Osmania General Hospital for a mandatory medical exam. In court, his defence argued the allegations were false and rooted in a personal dispute, seeking to avoid judicial remand. The prosecution, however, argued that given the seriousness of the rape and attempted murder charges, custody was necessary to prevent any tampering with evidence or witnesses — an argument the court accepted.
Following the remand order, the police academy suspended Reddy from training with immediate effect, pending the outcome of the case. Investigators are now going through his seized phones, digital devices, and chat records to piece together a complete timeline of the alleged offences.
