Congress president and Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge has urged the Centre to step up humanitarian assistance for flood-hit Nepal and intensify efforts to ensure the safety and evacuation of Indian nationals stranded across the country.
In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi dated August 28 and released on Saturday, Kharge expressed concern over the scale of devastation caused by the floods.
Appeal for Relief and Humanitarian Assistance
Kharge said recent media reports indicated that the floods had claimed more than 600 lives, while thousands of people remained missing.
He highlighted the urgent need for essential supplies, including food, medicines and shelter, for people affected by the disaster.
The Congress leader also drew attention to Indian nationals and people of Indian origin who are reportedly stranded in different parts of Nepal because of the flooding.
Focus on Safety and Evacuation
Kharge called for stronger efforts to locate stranded Indians and facilitate their safe evacuation from affected areas.
The appeal comes as rescue and relief operations continue in Nepal, with authorities dealing with the widespread impact of flooding and difficult conditions in several regions.
For businesses affected by major natural disasters, maintaining organised financial records can also be important when assessing operational disruption and documenting losses. Professional business setup in dubai services, meanwhile, can support companies planning regional operations by helping them understand establishment and compliance requirements.
The situation in Nepal remains closely watched as rescue teams continue their efforts and humanitarian needs grow in affected communities.
