EPFO Extends Portal Downtime; Online Claim Services Expected to Resume from July 2
Administrator

The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has extended the temporary suspension of several online services, including claim submission and processing, as it continues a planned technology upgrade aimed at modernising its claims processing system. According to the latest official notice, services are now expected to resume from 12:00 am on July 2, 2026.

The extension comes after EPFO had earlier indicated that portal services would be restored on July 1 following maintenance work that began on June 26. However, the migration process has now been extended by another day to complete database consolidation and software upgrades.

Claim Submission and Processing Remain Unavailable

EPFO stated that the submission and processing of claims through its online portal will remain unavailable until 11:59 pm on July 1.

The outage affects several digital services used by millions of provident fund subscribers, including:

  • Submission of new EPF claim applications.
  • Online processing of pending claims.
  • Claim-related services available through the EPFO portal.
  • Multiple EPFO services accessible through the UMANG mobile application.

The retirement fund body clarified that claims submitted before the maintenance period will be processed once the upgraded system becomes operational.

Services Expected to Resume on July 2

According to the latest advisory issued on the EPFO portal and the UMANG application, all affected services are expected to be restored from 00:00 hours on July 2, 2026.

Users accessing the UMANG platform currently receive a notification informing them that EPFO services remain temporarily unavailable during the migration period.

EPFO has expressed regret over the inconvenience caused and requested subscribers to remain patient while the upgrade is completed.

Maintenance Timeline Revised Multiple Times

The maintenance schedule has undergone multiple revisions since it was first announced.

Initially, EPFO planned a three-day maintenance window from June 26 to June 28, with services expected to resume on June 29. The organisation later extended the outage until June 30, followed by another announcement shifting the restoration date to July 1.

The latest notification has now extended the downtime until the end of July 1, with full restoration expected from July 2.

Why EPFO Is Upgrading Its System

According to EPFO, the ongoing exercise involves database consolidation and software application upgrades for its claims processing infrastructure.

The organisation said the objective is to:

  • Improve service delivery.
  • Enhance claims processing efficiency.
  • Strengthen system reliability and security.
  • Deliver a better digital experience for EPF subscribers.

The upgrade forms part of EPFO's broader efforts to modernise its digital infrastructure for millions of provident fund account holders across the country.

What Subscribers Should Know

Subscribers who need to submit fresh claims or access claim-related online services may have to wait until the upgraded platform becomes operational. Existing claims filed before the maintenance period will remain pending and will be processed once services resume.

EPFO has advised members to check the official EPFO portal or the UMANG application for further updates regarding the restoration of services.
