Indore Bus Body Builder Faces ₹2 Crore Fraud Allegations as 18+ Operators Approach Police

October 9, 2026

Police in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, have registered a fraud case against a bus body builder accused of collecting more than ₹2 crore in advance payments from over 18 bus operators for vehicle construction, customisation and interior-related work. According to the complaints, several projects allegedly remained incomplete despite payments being made.

The case was registered by Vijay Nagar police following complaints from multiple bus operators who alleged financial losses arising from unfinished assignments and unreturned advances.

How the Alleged ₹2 Crore Fraud Unfolded

According to the complaint, the accused, identified as Mohit alias Mannu, son of Satyanarayan Dixit, operated under the business name MB Bus. His services reportedly included bus body building, seat-cover installation, air-conditioning systems and interior modifications.

The complainants alleged that they paid advances for different commercial projects, expecting the agreed work to be completed within the stipulated arrangements. However, they claim that several assignments were left unfinished and the money was not returned.

The total amount involved is alleged to exceed ₹2 crore, with more than 18 bus operators reportedly affected.

Bus Operators Seek Police Intervention

The matter came to the attention of senior police officials when several bus owners reportedly raised their grievances during a public hearing. Complainants named in the report include Raja Divyanshu Barman, Pratham Gupta, Suraj Bhardwaj and Shamsher Singh, along with other operators.

They submitted a written complaint to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, alleging that payments had been accepted without the corresponding work being completed.

According to the complainants, previous business dealings had contributed to their confidence in the service provider, leading them to make further advance payments for additional assignments.

Unfinished Projects and Outstanding Payments

The bus operators alleged that the outstanding work involved vehicle bodies, seating, air-conditioning installations and interior customisation.

They also claimed that payments to certain suppliers and workers remained unsettled in some cases. As concerns mounted over incomplete projects, several operators reportedly visited the accused's garage and other locations in Vijay Nagar but were unable to find him.

The operators subsequently approached the police, seeking an investigation into the alleged financial losses and the status of their advance payments.

Police Investigation Underway

Vijay Nagar police have registered a fraud case against the accused and initiated an investigation into the complaints. Investigators are examining the allegations concerning advance payments, incomplete work and the reported inability of the complainants to locate him.

Further details regarding any arrest, recovery of funds or additional legal action were not established in the supplied report.

The allegations remain subject to investigation, and guilt has not been established in court.

What Businesses Can Learn From the Case

The incident highlights the importance of financial safeguards when engaging contractors for high-value commercial projects. Businesses can reduce potential disputes by maintaining signed contracts, documenting payment terms, setting milestone-based payment schedules and retaining invoices and transaction records.

For businesses managing complex transactions, professional auditing services in India can help strengthen financial oversight, record-keeping practices and internal controls.
