Lucknow Police Launch Operation Digital Kavach to Raise Cybercrime Awareness

October 22, 2026

Lucknow Police has launched Operation Digital Kavach, a cybercrime awareness campaign running from October 22 to 31, 2026. The initiative aims to help citizens recognise online fraud, secure their digital accounts and learn how to respond to cybercrime incidents.

Organised by the Uttar Pradesh Cyber Crime Headquarters as part of National Cyber Security Awareness Month 2026, the programme will feature expert-led online sessions covering common digital security risks and practical ways to stay safe online.

According to Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Kiran Yadav, sessions are scheduled to be livestreamed daily at 11 am on the official Uttar Pradesh Police YouTube platform. The campaign is expected to include eight sessions focused on issues affecting everyday internet users.

What Is Operation Digital Kavach?

Operation Digital Kavach is a public awareness initiative promoted by the Crime Branch of Lucknow Police. It focuses on helping people understand emerging cyber threats and adopt safer online habits.

As digital services become increasingly common for banking, communication and everyday transactions, awareness of online scams and basic cybersecurity practices has become important. The campaign is designed to give residents practical information they can use to protect their personal details, financial information and online identities.

Key Cybersecurity Risks the Campaign Will Address

The sessions will explain how to identify common online threats, including financial scams, phishing attempts, malware and unsafe applications. Special attention will be given to malicious APK files and applications downloaded from unverified sources, which may put personal information and device security at risk.

Participants are also expected to receive guidance on protecting passwords, securing online accounts and understanding the process for reporting cybercrime. The session on frozen bank accounts will address a concern that can arise during cybercrime investigations or suspected fraudulent transactions.

For businesses and individuals handling sensitive financial information, clear internal procedures and secure digital practices can help reduce exposure to online threats. Depending on their needs, organisations may also review their record-keeping and risk controls alongside their broader financial investigation services requirements.

How Will the Sessions Help Citizens?

ADCP Kiran Yadav said the initiative would provide practical guidance on recognising cyber fraud, protecting financial information, securing electronic devices and responding to online offences.

The campaign also reflects the importance of preventive education as more people rely on digital platforms for financial and personal activities. By improving awareness of suspicious links, fraudulent requests and unsafe downloads, police hope to help citizens make more informed decisions online.

How Can People Participate?

Residents have been encouraged to join the online sessions and share the information with family members, friends and community groups.

According to the report, programme details and viewing links will be circulated through Lucknow Police's official social media accounts, including X and Instagram under @lkopolice, as well as its Facebook presence and @lucknowcyberpolice.

Citizens should check these official channels for livestream links and any schedule updates before joining a session.

A Step Towards Better Digital Safety

Operation Digital Kavach aims to make cybersecurity information more accessible to the public through a series of focused online sessions. The topics range from recovering money lost to cyber fraud to securing devices, protecting children online and filing complaints.

The campaign's practical value will depend on citizens being able to apply the guidance in their daily digital activities. Staying alert, verifying suspicious communications and using official reporting channels remain important parts of safer internet use.
