Noida STF Arrests Man Posing as Officials to Defraud Women

Noida STF Arrests Man Using Fake Identities to Defraud Women

GREATER NOIDA | December 12, 2025:

A man accused of posing as senior government and military officials to lure women into relationships and allegedly extract crores of rupees has been arrested by the Special Task Force (STF) in Greater Noida. Investigators say the fraud spanned several years, involved multiple fabricated identities and targeted at least five women, including a sitting woman judge from Bihar.

According to STF officials, the accused carefully constructed an image of authority and influence, alternately presenting himself as an Income Tax officer, an Army official and, most persistently, a senior officer in the Ministry of Home Affairs. Using these assumed roles, he allegedly built romantic relationships with women while projecting proximity to power, confidential assignments and high-level connections within the government.

Investigators said the deception went far beyond casual misrepresentation. The accused allegedly shared forged credentials, spoke of sensitive postings and claimed involvement in classified operations. Officials said this projection of authority was central to gaining trust and persuading victims to transfer money over time.

The STF arrested the accused on November 19 from a residential society in Greater Noida, where he was reportedly living under the identity of a senior Indian Army officer. During interrogation, officers uncovered evidence suggesting that he maintained simultaneous relationships with at least five women, all of whom were allegedly led to believe that he was unmarried and held a powerful government position.

Preliminary financial analysis indicates that the fraud involved several crores of rupees. One complainant has reportedly told investigators that she alone transferred more than ₹50 lakh to the accused. Officials said bank records and digital evidence are being examined to map the full money trail.

One of the most serious revelations involves a woman judge currently posted in Bihar, whom the accused allegedly married about a year ago. Investigators said he introduced himself to her as an officer with the Ministry of Home Affairs and claimed he was frequently away on confidential assignments. When contacted by the STF, the judge reportedly confirmed that her husband had represented himself as a senior Home Ministry official.

Officials said the judge was visibly shocked when informed of the investigation’s findings, which indicated that the accused held no such official position. Investigators believe the marriage added a layer of credibility to his false persona, allowing him to continue approaching other women while maintaining an appearance of respectability.

STF officers said information has emerged about other potential victims who may have suffered financial losses but are reluctant to come forward. Authorities believe fear of social stigma and reputational damage is preventing some victims from filing formal complaints, especially given the personal nature of the alleged relationships.

According to investigators, the accused consistently portrayed himself as influential, unattached and capable of offering security and commitment, while allegedly exploiting emotional trust for financial gain. The STF said the investigation is ongoing and further disclosures are likely as more evidence is analysed and additional statements are recorded.
