After nearly two decades of building a life in the UAE, an unexpected phone call brought rare relief and renewed optimism for Mohammed Javeed Rajbhary, a 45-year-old Indian IT professional originally from Hyderabad.
Rajbhary won Dh100,000 in the Big Ticket weekly e-draw - a prize he described as arriving at the “perfect time”, as his employer faces closure and he navigates professional uncertainty.
A UAE resident for 19 years, Rajbhary began his journey in Dubai before relocating to Ras Al Khaimah for work. While his family initially lived with him, they later returned to India amid changing job circumstances - a reality many long-term expats quietly manage.
“I honestly thought the call was a prank,” Rajbhary said, smiling as he recalled checking the Big Ticket YouTube channel to confirm the news. “Only then did it sink in that it was real.”
His participation in Big Ticket began six to seven years ago with occasional purchases, gradually becoming more consistent during promotional campaigns. This marks his first-ever win - and one he entered independently.
Unlike stories of instant splurges, Rajbhary’s plans are measured and practical. He is considering mutual fund investments with his wife, setting aside financial support for his mother, and donating a portion of the prize to charity.
The win has also given him breathing space as he evaluates his next steps in the UAE, where many professionals reassess career paths, savings, and even long-term plans such as business setup in dubai during transitional phases.
Encouraging others not to lose hope, Rajbhary added, “It’s all about luck. You never know when your time will come - but it does come.”
