Gurugram cyber police have arrested 37 individuals believed to be part of a nationwide cybercrime syndicate accused of defrauding nearly ₹100 crore. Investigators said the operation spanned multiple states and involved thousands of victims who were targeted through sophisticated digital traps and impersonation schemes.
Officials noted that detailed analysis of 45 seized mobile phones and 13 SIM cards, conducted with support from the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre, revealed links to more than 10,753 complaints and 293 FIRs from across India. This volume of cases suggests the group operated with extensive coordination and a structured hierarchy.
Police recovered ₹1.39 lakh in cash, a modem and a bank passbook during searches, offering early clues into the financial pathways used to transfer and conceal illicit gains. Initial findings indicate that the network carried out operations from multiple rented locations while using layered communication channels to avoid detection.
The syndicate has been linked to 22 cases across Haryana, including 13 from Gurugram. Complaints registered at the Cyber Crime Police Stations in the East and South zones formed a major part of the investigation, with one case emerging from the Manesar police station.
Investigators believe the group used a mix of investment scams, phishing calls, social media impersonation, fake medical-emergency appeals, “digital arrest” intimidation strategies and malware-loaded APK links to trap victims. Each caller reportedly followed scripts designed to build trust quickly and create psychological pressure during the fraud attempt.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Priyanshu Diwan said the arrests were carried out over four to five days, with officials relying on structured digital analysis to track the suspects. As the investigation advances, teams are mapping beneficiary accounts, mule networks and possible handlers based outside Haryana. More arrests are expected as inter-state coordination expands.
Large volumes of fraudulent digital transactions underscore how organised cybercrime networks exploit financial gaps and weak record-keeping systems. Strengthening compliance and maintaining accurate financial trails through professional bookkeeping services in india can help individuals and businesses detect anomalies early and protect against such emerging threats.
